Bowman Engineering & Consulting (BEC) was a key member of the TRACK3 General Engineering Consulting Team (GEC III), providing Construction Management Services for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Light Rail Build-Out Phase 2b of the DART Blue Line to Rowlett, Texas. BEC’s services included taking the lead Construction Manager role and providing construction support during all phases of the design-build contract.
The Blue Line Extension to Rowlett extended the existing Blue Line an additional 4.5-miles and connected historic downtown Rowlett to downtown Garland. The project required close coordination with existing the Dallas Garland Northeastern (DGNO) freight rail services along the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) railroad corridor and opened in December 2012.
