DALLAS AREA RAPID TRANSIT (DART)

PROJECT OVERVIEW .

Urban Circulator Streetcar Track Extension

.65-mile urban streetcar track extension linking McKinney Avenue Trolley system to DART LRT in the heart of downtown Dallas.

Bowman Engineering & Consulting (BEC) provided program management services including procurement, project management, construction management and oversight for this Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funded project, which included $4.9M in Urban Circulator grant funding to support streetcar service from the existing terminus at Ross Street along St. Paul Street to the intersection of Olive Street and Federal Street in the immediate vicinity of the DART St. Paul LRT Station.

The .65-mile urban streetcar involved a track extension to the existing McKinney Avenue Trolley system and linked the pre-existing McKinney Trolley to the existing DART LRT system in the heart of Downtown Dallas. The connection to the Olive Street extension formed an entire reversing loop for the trolley providing safer and more efficient operation while connecting downtown destinations such as the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center to Uptown Dallas.
